Last week I had the opportunity to attend to YC’s 10th Startup School. It was a great opportunity to hear stories from some really successful entrepreneurs and investors in Silicon Valley.
I’ve been living in Silicon Valley for almost 2 years now, and somehow you start getting used to going to events where you get to listen to the stories of successful founders or investors, or sometimes casually meet them. A lot of people traveled from all over the US or abroad to come to this event, so it was also a reminder to appreciate the value of living in Silicon Valley.
YC’s Startup School was probably the peak of all the events that I’ve been in the last 2 years. The list of speakers was amazing, including Ron Conway from SV Angel and founders from Indiegogo, Instagram, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Pebble, Groupon, Cloudflare, Jawbone and Twitch.
There were many specific lessons to be learned from each of the speakers, but you should watch the videos yourself to get the most out of them. It’s amazing how most of the advice or lessons you can learn from other entrepreneurs are really generic and applicable to pretty much any type of company. Even while some of them might seem repetitive, it’s important to be reminded of them (don’t give up, build a great team and build a product that people love).
I find YC’s efforts to make their content available amazing and would recommend any entrepreneur or aspiring entrepreneur to watch their videos. Besides listening to the speakers, YC’s Startup School was a great opportunity to meet many current and future entrepreneurs, as well as seeing familiar faces (just like Kevin Systrom said, the Valley is really small and you meet people over and over).
